• Ms. Foo is a highly dedicated and professional tutor, who constantly encourages her students to ask questions and made sure that we clarify all our doubts. She exposes her students to a great variety of questions and provides us tips to solving the questions more quickly. Ms. Foo’s passion for math really transcends into her teaching, where she would patiently teach us the different topics. Having been under Ms. foo for 6 years, I can confidently say that she’s definitely one of the best tutors I had, always so supportive and encouraging. Not only does she help me with the queries I have outside of lesson time, she even organizes extra lessons for her students before exams. Thanks to her dedication, I landed myself with an A for math in the A levels. Thank you Ms. Foo!

  • ‘I hate Math!” that was my attitude towards Math in Primary School. Then in Secondary School I started attending Ms Foo’s tuition and my attitude towards Math took a 180 degrees turn. Under her tutelage, I began to really enjoy and gain confidence in the subject. She even enabled me to achieve what I thought was impossible, an A1 for both E Math and A Math for my O’ Level Examinations.

Today, for ‘A’ Levels, I continue to pursue H2 Mathematics under Ms Foo as I have come to appreciate the subject.

Ms Foo’s methodology works for me. She is able to teach in a very clear and concise manner. For instance, she does not just ask us to memorise the formulas but carefully explains how they are derived. Hence, we are able to apply these formulas easily in all types of questions. She also teaches us the shortest and most effective way of answering the question, which has helped me immensely in managing my time during examinations.

I am extremely grateful for the drastic improvement Ms Foo has made to my grades and attitude towards math. I believe strongly in her teaching methods and always recommend her tuition to my friends of all skill levels. I highly recommend anyone who is having difficulty with math to go to her for tuition because she will be able to use the best method to solve your problem.

  • I first joined Ms Foo’s tuition class when I was in secondary 1. During that time, she held classes directly above Tampines Sports Hall. After badminton training sessions, I would immediately have lessons with her. Although I was extremely exhausted after the training sessions, Ms Foo never failed to explain every single mathematic concept with clarity, making complex problems seem really easy. She actively monitored and drilled me with hand-picked problem sums which she believes that I will benefit the most from out of a myriad of past year examination papers and workbooks.

My dependence on Ms Foo’s Mathematic lessons grew exponentially as I entered Raffles Junior College. It was definitely not because I let my guard down but due to the vigor of the A levels syllabus. She continued to guide me through my junior college journey as it became more difficult. Ms Foo is not just any tutor who only bothered about grades but also our well-being. Once, I remembered that she was willing to extend a tuition lesson for us as it was nearing Prelims even though it was already very late at night. For the entire 6 years under Ms Foo’s guidance, I have never once thought of changing tuition and I am glad I never did. The result I have gotten for A’ levels is largely due to her encouragement and constant guidance. Ms Foo is not just a teacher but a mentor to me.

Ms Foo, thank you for teaching me for the past 6 years!

  • Sarah started Math tuition with Ms Foo after her mid year examination at P5. She did not do very well for the paper and was disappointed. Ms foo was able to identify the areas where Sarah is weak in and very quickly Sarah's math grades picked up. Under her guidance, Sarah also became less careless than before. Sarah got an A* for math for her PSLE. Sarah is now doing IP math with Ms Foo.

  • Shawn didn't do as well as expected for his PSLE math. My friend recommended Ms Foo. I started Shawn with Ms Foo at Year 1. He is now in Year 4 and has consistently scored A1 for his math papers. When I asked Shawn how is Ms Foo different from his previous math tutors, he said Ms Foo is good and patient and she has a way to help him understand the concepts. Shawn will definitely want to continue with Ms Foo for Year 5 and 6.

  • Math is not a subject which I am confident in. I struggle with understanding Math concepts and applying them. However, with Ms Foo's guidance,  she simplifies those complicated, nerve wrecking math concepts to something comprehensible to all! Thus it makes problem solving much easier for me to handle. Moreover, the resources she prepared, allowed me to have ample practice, therefore strengthening my concepts. From an E grade in Prelims to an A grade in A level, I am immensely grateful for her expert guidance in helping me achieve! I highly recommend Ms Foo if you have the will to ace your Math!

  • I first started attending lessons at Mrs Foo's class when I was in secondary 3. Initially, before attending her lessons, I was really struggling and having trouble, especially with my Amath. However, after a few lessons, through Mrs Foo's clear and concise teaching, I started to get the hang of it, and I have been going for her lessons ever since. Mrs Foo has a really direct and clear way of teaching which suits me and thanks to her I have achieved commendable results for Math!

  • It’s no doubt that Mathematics is a daunting subject, and the sheer amount of content, formulas and application skills required of a student are bound to leave many students dreading to study and practice math, including myself. However, over the years, Ms Foo has changed my perspective on the subject by teaching it in a manner that enables you to learn content as efficiently and confidently as possible. She starts every topic by giving an overview of the concepts at hand with emphasis on important details, this allows you to have a bigger picture of the topic and a better grasp of what the lecturer is teaching during school lectures. This is highly important as it allows you to connect the dots between various topics. Then on, Ms Foo exposes us to questions of various complexity and difficulty so as to drill the basic concepts into our memory which I feel is crucial in building a solid mathematics foundation.

The phrase ‘practice makes perfect’ really stands out here but still it is not entirely representative of mathematics or the teaching style of Ms Foo. It is more so the thought process of tackling a question because the differentiating questions in exams require an application of formulas to different types of questions, some of which you would not have come across before. Unlike teachers who simply give you the steps and answers, Ms Foo not only goes through your mistakes but she solves the question with you on the spot, teaching and prompting you every step of the way on how you could think better, apply your concepts/formulas or even solve the question with a different and more suitable approach. This form of active learning has been of great help in my learning and has instilled in me the confidence to tackle any question no matter the type or difficulty, especially so in the A levels.

Ms Foo is also highly committed to her students and her lessons are structured to your personal learning, pace and weakness. I found this highly beneficial during moments where I couldn’t keep up with school lectures especially during competition season or was simply lagging behind in certain topics but was fortunate to have Ms Foo guiding me along the way by teaching me the content from the very scratch in a succinct and effective manner, helping me clarify all my doubts. In addition to that, Ms Foo goes above and beyond by crafting study plans for us months and weeks leading up to the A levels to ensure that we are always in tune with the different topics and she also provides us with her compiled questions from various years and schools which was useful in exposing us to as many types of questions as possible.

Ms Foo is an exceptional teacher who sincerely shows care and concern for her students with respect to their academics and lifestyle. Being taught by her from Secondary 1 to JC2, Ms Foo has taught me invaluable lessons both in and out of the classroom and I am confident that her future students would be in good hands under her guidance and would excel in their academics. Thank you once again Ms Foo!

  • Ms Foo is a dedicated and professional tutor. She has a special technique that helps weaker pupils transform their poor results, to distinctions. This results in many of them having a sense of achievement, allowing them to have their first taste of sweet success. From there, these pupils become self motivated in wanting to soar to greater heights. My daughter has never fared well in Mathematics. Upon the recommendation of a friend, whose son's grades improved from F9 to A1 at 'O' levels, I decided to enrol her with Ms Foo at the end of Secondary One. Ms Foo broke down concepts that were difficult to understand, and simplified it for her. She encouraged my daughter to work hard through constant practice and made sure all doubts are clarified. Today, my daughter is in Secondary 3 and has grown in confidence in her Mathematics. Many of her friends seek her help for homework. This has boosted her self esteem as she feels she is able to reach out to others. Her teacher even joked that he has no business now as her friends are approaching her for help instead of him! I have now even enrolled my 2 younger children who are in primary school with her, so they can have a head start by the time they reach secondary school. I have full confidence in Ms Foo, and I leave everything in her care, as it has been proven time and again, that she produces results.

  • I can say without hesitation that Ms Foo has been one of the most impactful and inspiring teachers I have known in my 12 years of formal school education so far. I learnt Math under Ms Foo for 4 years, and within this period of time, went from detesting and dreading Math to it becoming my favourite subject. In my secondary school days, I found it very difficult to keep up and Ms Foo's gentle but firm guidance allowed me to grasp concepts and learn Math the right way so that I could solve the questions myself during papers. She forms personal connections with her students such that they truly strive to work hard and do well. Under her incomparable expertise and motherly guidance, Math came to become something that I truly enjoyed and believed I could excel in." Not sure if you wanted me to mention my school/A level grade, but if you did please let me know if you want me to edit it, or if you want you can add it in too! 🙂 Also I'm not sure if this picture is ok but it's the only formalish picture I could find!!

  • Ms Foo took the effort to painstakingly ensure that everyone of us understood concepts, regardless of it being a group tuition. It is under her guidance and unwavering determination, coupled with a strong will and genuine desire for us to do well that I was able to obtain my distinction. Not only will she extend the lessons way beyond out allocated time to answer all our enquiries, she would also prep us with different materials.

  • When our middle child was struggling with Math in p5, we chanced upon an ex-teacher turned tutor, Teacher Jeanne, through a friend's recommendation. From failing in p5 to an A in PSLE, we see our child growing in confidence under her tutorage. Currently my three children, aged 15, 13 and 10, are under her wings. I believe they will only get better with her guidance. Thank you, Teacher Jeanne!   Mrs Anna Ong   gabriel-family-picture

  • During Miss Foo's class, we are exposed to both intermediate and advanced questions for both Elementary and Additional Math. This has helped greatly since schools these days set out to test on higher order thinking skills rather than on the basic fundamentals. My Math grades have remained at a consistent A due to the sheer amount of practice we are given weekly. My love for the subject has been enhanced further during math lessons as Miss Foo not only teaches but sets out to be an inspiring and caring educator who oversees her students progress.

  • Life in RI has been a rather challenging but great experience for me. I entered RI via DSA(direct school admission), which also implies that I have to work doubly hard compared to others who entered via academic results. My math results for all tests and exams throughout secondary school have been unsatisfactory(at least compared to the rest of the cohort), and I was always placed at the bottom few percentile. This does not include just math, but also every other subjects. However, this did not stop me from continue being my playful self. This is rather inevitable as I came from the sports class and we were quite unmotivated to study and would prefer to have fun and play. Another factor contributing to this is because we know we will proceed to RIJC without having take O levels. I was recommended by a friend to attend Miss Foo’s math tuition at the end of sec 4(2012). Everything changed when I reached J1. Even though I continued to fail my exams or on good times, barely even pass, this time I start to panic and worry that I may not be able to make it for A levels. I thought it was already too late as my foundations for math and other subjects were really weak and it really took a toll on my JC academic life. I tried to pay attention in class and do the tutorials, but when your basics and foundation isn’t firm and strong, nothing really comes out does it? Miss Foo was very patient with me throughout and tried different approaches to see which really works best for me. There were many times when she and I could feel that I wanted to give up as I just could not seem to solve any math questions. However, she continued to encourage me and even offered extra classes for me. A major concern then was that even if I could solve basic questions during tuition, but when the real test or exams comes, I cannot seem to apply what I have learnt. Hence my results throughout J1 and even until J2 Prelims, had been either fail or just pass, if I was lucky enough. I believe that if it was any other teacher (majority at least), they would have kind of given up on me because it was evident that there were no results after nearly 2 years of tuition. Looking back, I’m really glad and grateful that Miss Foo did not lose hope but instead, did what was needed which was try to tutor me objectively and continued pushing me. A miracle happened right after the prelims. What Miss Foo had in mind for me from this moment on was to tackle the ten year series and direct my mindset towards more A level’s problems. Surprisingly, I was able to solve most of the ten year series questions and attained rather good results for the papers. Miss Foo and I were rather shocked when we saw what I could achieve. Subsequently, when she saw that I could tackle A level questions confidently, she proceeded to pose me with more challenging questions as these are questions that distinguishes the better from the good *wink* Ultimately, I achieved commendable results for A levels and everyone was happy for me and I was also thankful for everyone who supported me throughout, especially Miss Foo. Miss Foo is a really awesome teacher who extremely patient, which I believe is a very important value for a teacher. Additionally, she explains very well. Whenever one could not understand her explanation, she would think of other means to explain so that we can capture it. Finally, she is one who’s willing to go the extra mile for her students. For example, she would offer extra classes for the weaker ones and on top of that she would provide drinks or food when she sees that everyone is tired. I’m really thankful for having her guidance and encouragement throughout my journey in JC! THANKS MISS FOO!
